About the Founders

Kerry O’Connor

In addition to his nearly 25 years of experience remodeling and repairing homes and commercial buildings, Kerry is a licensed real estate broker. He initially gained valuable insight and experience in restoration as owner and operator of a ServiceMaster franchise focused on the repair and restoration of buildings damaged by fire and water. This also provided him the opportunity to advocate on behalf of homeowners with their insurance adjustors to obtain fair and equitable settlements of homeowners’ claims. Over the years, he has worked extensively with most major insurance companies, and utilizes that expertise to benefit Symmetry’s customers. In 1989, Kerry began a janitorial and building-maintenance business, serving office buildings in the Elgin, IL area. He then accepted a partnership position with a Schaumburg-based company specializing in room additions, basement build-outs, and kitchen and bathroom remodeling. Later, Kerry expanded his building-maintenance business to include window and door replacement, home office design and installation, and small additions. After decades of experience, Kerry decided the time was right to co-found his own company, allowing him to bring his commitment to quality directly to his clients on their home renovations and remodeling projects.

Kerry’s commitment to customer service, tireless work ethic, and personal attention to every detail are just a few of the reasons that Symmetry Group’s customers come back again and again, knowing they can rely on him to do every job right.

Steve Vincent

Steve’s passion for design, building and remodeling is matched only by his attention to detail and his commitment to ensuring that your project is perfect. He served his apprenticeship with a quality-driven remodeling company and a large-production carpenter contractor. His love of the built environment led him to Louisiana State University, where he studied art and architecture. After college, Steve was hired as a project manager and lead carpenter for a leading North Shore remodeling company, honing and perfecting his construction skills, including finish carpentry and job site supervision, in a demanding and challenging marketplace. In 1988, Steve struck out on his own to start Vincent Construction Services. The company produced custom additions, interiors and homes, like the Tukey House, which in 1992 was featured on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Building Ideas magazine. Always seeking challenging and rewarding work, Steve and architect Bruce Belrose (designer of the Tukey House) formed Allyster Group, LLC, a design and building company that offered clients a custom-built package, featuring the services of a licensed architect matched with those of a quality construction company.

Allyster ceased operations after several fulfilling projects, and Steve moved on to open Vincent Construction Inc., a micro construction company focused on custom carpentry and small general-contracting projects.

Steve’s wide variety of experience as a carpenter and general contractor, combined with his love of architecture, has provided Symmetry’s customers with the security of knowing that he will build their projects with passion and craftsmanship, as if they were his very own.
